The Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act imposes new obligations on employers with respect to workplace violence and harassment. It came into force in June 2010 and gave employers who had more than 5 employees "regularly employed" until December 15, 2010 to do the following:

1. Have in place separate written policies with respect to workplace violence and workplace harassment which must be posted in a conspicuous place;

2. Develop a program to implement the workplace violence policy.

There are various self help sites on the internet to prepare these. Occupational Health and Safety Council of Ontario has prepared a Tool Kit for developing the policies and program. Pages 67 and 68 have sample policies that just require the company name to be inserted; page 79 outlines how to prepare the implementation program. See

By December 31, 2011, all employers with at least one employee will have to have an Accessible Customer Service Policy under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Ministry of Government Services has prepared a Compliance Manual, with Policy Templates. See
